AEMI – European Alliance for Migration (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a non-governmental organization based in Romania.
We are committed to protecting your personal data and your privacy, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and the Romanian Law no. 190/2018 on personal data protection.

2. What Data We Collect

We may process the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact information (name, email address, phone number) when you contact us or subscribe to our newsletter.

  • Usage data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) through analytics tools (Google Analytics).

  • Communication data when you interact with us via forms, petitions, or community projects.

We do not collect sensitive data (e.g., health, ethnicity, religion) unless strictly necessary for a project and with your explicit consent.


3. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To respond to inquiries and communication requests (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – performance of a contract or steps prior).

  • To send newsletters and project updates (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – consent).

  • To analyze and improve website usage (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest).

  • To comply with legal obligations applicable in Romania (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).


4. Data Retention

We will retain your data only for as long as necessary for the purposes stated above or as required by Romanian law.

  • Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe.

  • Contact form data: up to 12 months.

  • Analytics data: according to Google Analytics retention policy (default 26 months).


5. Data Sharing and International Transfers

  • We may share your data with trusted service providers (e.g., newsletter platforms, hosting provider).

  • We do not sell or rent personal data.

  • If data is transferred outside the EU/EEA (e.g., Google Analytics servers in the US), appropriate safeguards are applied under GDPR (Standard Contractual Clauses).
